The JAYC Foundation Hosted a group of mental health professionals for 2-day training in Advanced Abduction Response. The group is a newly formed response team operating in the Seattle-Tacoma area in Washington State. The multi-disciplinary team consists of clinical social workers, psychologists, and a psychiatrist. The trainers for this workshop were Dr. Joann Lippert, Dr. Rebecca Bailey, Jane F. Dickel, LCSW, Cynthia Psaila, Psych Intern, and Elizabeth Castenada (former FBI).
The content of the workshop included:
• Past research regarding abduction and exploitation of children.
• Identification of issues specific to familial and non-familial abductions.
• Complexities in these cases.
• Importance of family participation.
• Treatment approaches and challenges.
• Coordination of various agency personnel, including law enforcement.
• Recognition and identification of high profile cases.
• Media issues in high profile cases.
• Self-care: Staying healthy as a team.
The group had the opportunity to talk with members of the Dugard/Probyn family. The workshop was received with enthusiasm and provided a renewed resolve to spread the word: Just Ask Yourself to Care.
